WeatherXM
WeatherXM describes a weather network in which participants deploy and maintain weather stations.

About the project
WeatherXM’s documentation describes a weather network that relies on its community to deploy and maintain weather stations. The project says it brings the stations’ local observations together, assesses their quality and complements existing reference stations, satellites and forecast models.
A ground observation network
The network page describes independently operated weather stations that measure local conditions. WeatherXM states that it adds observations between existing measurement points and complements reference networks rather than replacing them.

WeatherXM lists station models for different connections: Wi-Fi, LoRaWAN, cellular, LoRa mesh and direct-to-satellite. The stations page describes all models as serving the same purpose: physical weather observations where an application needs them.

The documentation describes a Data Quality algorithm that scores the confidence in a station’s weather data. The page states that the algorithm is at version 1.0. It also lists checks marked with later version numbers, such as comparison with reference data and detection of indoor stations and obstacles.

WeatherXM’s documents describe $WXM as an ERC-20 token issued by the WeatherXM Network Association. Station owners are rewarded in $WXM for the data they contribute, and the token is described for governing the network and for licensing weather data for commercial use. This reflects the project’s documentation and does not state an expected return.

The installation guide stresses correct placement, with a suitable pole, secure mounting and spacing. It states that faulty installation results in fewer or no WXM rewards. Read the current guide for your station model before installing.
